The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning for fire weather due to Santa Ana winds and low humidity in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties beginning Thursday evening and stretching through Sunday night.
A Red Flag Warning means that low humidity, high winds and/or other factors have combined to create a high danger of fire. Â
A moderate Santa Ana wind event will develop Thursday night. Northeast winds will increase to 25-30 m.p.h. Thursday night, with peak winds occurring Friday morning and again early Saturday and gusts as high as 60 m.p.h.
Relative humidity will be between 10-15 percent Friday and is expected to drop to single digits Saturday and Sunday. The Santa Ana winds are expected to begin subsiding Saturday night and Sunday morning, with gusts of up to 30 m.p.h.Â
