Rhoda-May Adamson Dallas passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Studio City on October 14, 2011 at the age of 94. She was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

Dallas was born in Santa Monica on February 14, 1917 to Merritt and Rhoda Agatha Rindge Adamson, the founders of Adohr Dairy and Creamery. Dallas was the eldest of their three children and was the granddaughter of Frederick Hastings and May Knight Rindge, the last landowners of the Rancho Malibu. Her grandmother, May, was also founder of the Malibu Potteries in 1926. The family’s Malibu home is the Historic Adamson House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and a Registered California Historical Landmark. Dallas always said she had the best childhood and the best life surrounded by family and friends that loved her and laughed with her. Through her life she enjoyed visiting her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jerome and all her grandchildren in Aurora, Ill. She enjoyed visiting her son, Hunt, his wife, Debbie, and her two children Allison and Bart in Colorado. She also enjoyed needlepoint and weaving, reading and crossword puzzles, and took pleasure in sheltering and caring for kittens and cats through the years.

She was preceded in death by her brother Merritt, Jr., her son Hunt, and her husband Richard.

She is survived by her daughter Jane and husband Jerome, Malibu; her seven grandchildren, Deborah, Carolyn, Jerry, Jack, Rhoda, Edward and Christopher; and her fifteen great grandchildren, Kathleen, Adam, Ryan, Samantha, Rhoda-May, Ben, Molly, Jessica, Hannah, Joseph, Ezra, Nico, Jack, Leah, and Aidan. She is survived by her son’s wife, Debbie and her children Allison and Bart. She is survived by her sister Sylvia.

The family would like to express their love and thank-you to Dallas’ long-term caregivers Rini Suyono, her nieces Amelia and Ari, Tonga Maka, Lupe Cano, Dr. Asha Randall, Sanjay Bardwaj, Drew Johnson and doctors whose constant love, care and companionship made each day brighter and happier for her.

The family will be having private graveside services at Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in memory of Dallas on Sun., Oct. 23, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Point Dume Club of Malibu, Clubhouse 29500 Heathercliff Road, Malibu, CA 90265.
