Several readers, photographers and community members submitted photos of the Springs Fire, which began raging in Camarillo early Thursday morning. See the attached images for a glimpse of what people in Malibu and surrounding areas experienced.
As of midnight, the Springs Fire had consumed 8,000 acres in Ventura County, including Camarillo, Point Mugu State Park and Newbury Park.
A Ventura County Fire spokesman told The Malibu Times the fire was showing no signs of slowing as it spread south late Thursday night, but Malibu city officials do not believe ht flames currently pose a threat to Malibu. L.A. County fire officials will meet early Friday morning to determine whether the Springs Fire may become a threat to Los Angeles territory.
The fire also burned through the Sycamore Canyon campgrounds at Point Mugu State Park. No structures were damaged according to State Parks District Supt. Craig Sap.Â
