A traffic collision involving multiple vehicles took place on Thursday, Oct. 19, morning on Malibu Canyon Road, causing a full closure of one of Malibu’s main arteries for several hours on Thursday morning. The collision caused closures in both directions of the road, causing backup on other Malibu canyon roads as drivers sought alternative routes—including a long line of cars on Las Flores Canyon Road on Thursday morning. As of 10 a.m., the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station confirmed that the roadway was cleared.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the incident and were at the scene shortly thereafter. After arrival, CHP closed the road to all traffic. An entrance to Pepperdine’s campus was also closed as a result. There were reported moderate injuries to the drivers involved; one was airlifted to a UCLA hospital.Â
