The Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue hosted the second annual Hand in Hand Spring Formal Dance on Friday night, complete with a red carpet entrance. Music was provided by DJ Leon Henderson, who had everyone grooving to the beat. “Peer Buddies” from Pepperdine, Palisades High, Malibu High and UCLA came out to share the evening with their Hand in Hand and CreativeSteps friends. Codirector of Hand in Hand Lisa Szilagyi explained, “Hand in Hand is an after-school program that is dedicated to providing inclusive opportunities for social interaction and friendship between mainstream students and teens and young adults with special needs.”
In addition to dancing, partygoers enjoyed snacks, drinks, pizza and a variety of desserts. Festivities included a makeup and hair booth, photo booth, and much more. “Hand in Hand creates the opportunity for everyone to come together, regardless of ability, to have fun and dance and party!” Szilagyi shared.
