On Thursday, Oct 16, at Serra Retreat, Malibu CAN is hosting a local community meeting to discuss the Malibu Bay Company Development Agreement. Invitations for this “Serra” meeting have been sent out to Malibu Knolls, Malibu Colony and Malibu Road, Serra Property Owners, and the Winter Canyon and Malibu Canyon Village Condominium Associations. Similar community meetings are scheduled at Point Dume and Malibu West. We have also informed every Malibu Homeowner Association that we will make ourselves available for a local meeting in their area.
Malibu CAN is on record opposing Measure M. Nevertheless, we believe that a community debate, with representatives from both sides of Measure M, is the best way to insure an informed electorate for the November 4 vote. In that spirit, we would like to invite Council Members Joan House (who negotiated the first agreement with the Bay Company), Andy Stern (former Planning Commissioner), and Sharon Barovsky to join us at Serra Retreat on the 16th and in all subsequent local community meetings to discuss the merits of Measure M. As the community is aware, the City Council has held a private meeting at the Malibu Castle where Jeff Jennings and Ken Kearsley presented their positions on the Development Agreement. This agreement will have a major impact on every Malibu resident, and we believe that it is important for the community to hear from all the Council Members prior to making a decision.
