The Pepperdine women’s basketball team defeated San Diego with a 55-42 win Saturday afternoon — bringing their total Ws to four out of six.

Freshman Yasmine Robinson-Bacote had another impressive performance, picking up her sixth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds. “Yasmine is Ms. Double-double for us this year,” Head Coach Ryan Weisenberg said in a press release provided to The Malibu Times. “She did a great job down low for us controlling the paint.”

The Toreros came into the match averaging 71.7 points per game and shooting 43 percent from the field, but when up against the Waves’ defense, the team fell to a 28.6 percent shooting average for the day. “We came in with a game plan and executed it all the way through,” Weisenberg said. We wanted to limit them in the paint and we did exactly that. We also were consistent on the offensive end.”

Saturday’s win moves the Waves to 4-11 overall and 2-2 in West Coast Conference play, while San Diego falls to 7-7, 1-3 WCC.

Pepperdine returns home for a Thursday night game before heading to Santa Clara on Saturday the following week.
