On Saturday, May 3 at Will Rogers Polo Grounds in Pacific Palisades, Safety Harbor Kids, a local nonprofit benefiting parentless and homeless children in our communities, held its second annual Corporate Meeting and Picnic. The event was put on by Petrie Alexandra Williams, the president and director of Safety Harbor Kids, and was specifically designed to mix business with pleasure while raising awareness about the plight of parentless and homeless children.

The day began with the annual corporate meeting to review the accomplishments of the young charity in its first year. Focusing on college, career and the arts, Safety Harbor Kids has recently developed programs in academic counseling, reading and literacy (founded by philanthropists Charles and Cynthia Murphy III), and a college scholarship fund (founded by Malibu resident Kym Lubell). Other programs include career development, music and the arts (supported by Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt among other industry heavyweights), Personal Development and Environmental Awareness.

Following the meeting was the afternoon’s polo match. Also, a lunch donated by Whole Foods of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and an exotic papaya, shrimp salad was enjoyed by all.
