Traffic was backed up for miles along Pacific Coast Highway early Thursday due to an early morning fatality.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a vehicle hit a transient at approximately 5:55 am on Pacific Coast Highway near Chataqua. The highway was closed in both directions for several hours and traffic was diverted while Los Angeles police officers began their investigation. Officers are treating the incident as a hit and run.
