Weekend events in Malibu

Friday night the City of Malibu and its Harry Barovsky Memorial Youth Commission host a “Friday the 13th Haunted Maze and Movie” event, featuring a haunted maze and screening of “The Ring,” along with food and drinks, at Malibu City Hall, 24825 Stuart Ranch Rd., at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 310.317.1364.

On Saturday morning guides from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area host a geology hike, to explore the sedimentary and volcanic rocks found in the park, at Malibu Creek State Park, 1925 Las Virgenes Rd., at 9 a.m. For more information visit nps.gov.

The Pepperdine University Weisman Gallery’s “The Epic and the Exotic: 19th-century Academic Realism from the Dahesh Museum” exhibit opens with a reception this Saturday, from 5-7 p.m., and remains open, free of charge, from Tuesdays through Sundays, until April 1.
