Malibu resident Nick Tidy unexpectedly died in his sleep shortly after midnight on Nov. 2. He was 39. The cause of death was unknown at press time.

Tidy operated a music studio in Malibu. He composed, produced and remixed electric music. His clients included music libraries, record labels and corporate clients such as HBO, Warner Bros., Fox Sports and Disney.

Tidy was also president of Drummers Unite, a charity organization that raises money for school music departments. In June 2002, Drummers Unite held a five-hour drum marathon that raised $1,500 to buy music equipment for Juan Cabrillo Elementary School.

Additionally, Tidy coached AYSO soccer in Malibu.

A memorial service will take place at Malibu West Beach Club, located at 30756 Pacific Coast Highway, on Nov. 11 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has established a scholarship fund for children who have an interest in music education and application, specifically drums. The fund will be for any child who is a student at Juan Cabrillo. Information about the fund can be obtained by calling Principal John Davis at 457.0360.
