Patricia Olsen Greenwood, 78, of Malibu, died unexpectedly but peacefully at her home on Jan. 6.
She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and moved to Malibu in 1972 after living in Pacific Palisades for a decade. Pat was a tireless volunteer in many areas: PTA, school advisory council, school newsletters, bond committees, (Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District) School Closure Committee, School District Oversight Committee, Great Books program at Juan Cabrillo Elementary; Malibu Park Homeowners Association; Malibu Recreation Council; Malibu Junior Tennis League, Pepperdine and Malibu Riding and Tennis Club tennis courts from 1978-84; Malibu Yacht Club; Trancas Riders & Ropers; Malibu Olympic Neighbors during the 1984 Olympics (Pepperdine was the water polo venue), the Torch Run (earning the nickname “Torchy”); Malibu Cityhood Committee; Parks and Recreation Study Group; Transportation Study Group; Parks and Recreation Commission; PARCS treasurer; and Malibu Optimist Club as one of the first female members. She was honored with a Dolphin Award in 2004. Pat also worked as a Realtor since 1984. Survivors include daughters Karen (Juan) and Jill (Adrian); grandchildren Melissa, Jonathan and Jennifer; great granddaughter Lyla; brother David; sister Linda; and six nieces and nephews.
“She will be missed dearly, but her legacy of service to the community will be carried on,” a loved one said.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Malibu Church.
