I believe the City of Malibu owes its citizens an apology. Evidently for years people have been working on a park up Trancas. Good people. People I know. These people were set unknowingly on a collision course with other good people. People I know. And me. The fact that the massive grading of this plan was hidden until the eleventh hour before its approval was willful, and the predictable results are divisive and destructive. People that participated in the park planning process did so with the good faith that those running the show were competent professionals. If we give the City Council the benefit of the doubt, they believed that what arrived on their desk was reasonable and responsible. It was not. It is time to recognize that. It is time for the City Council to take responsibility for that.
