Malibu High School principal Cheli Nye sent out an email to parents and guardians after a construction crew member was hit by a car on Wednesday morning, Nov. 29. The crew member was assisting with traffic control when the accident occurred on Morning View Drive.
Assistant principal Nauman Zaidi and an off-duty sheriff, who were on the scene at the time, helped direct traffic and secure medical attention. The responding ambulance took the man to be airlifted to a hospital, according to the email. The worker was responsive and communicative at the time.
School psychologists and counselors were made available to students who witnessed the accident.
Families are advised to take extra precaution while driving near Morning View, especially with the school’s modernization construction underway.
