Representative Henry A. Waxman urged support to fund a project to improve the Lost Hills Road and US-101 interchange in a letter to Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood last week. The project, known as the Lost Hills Road at US-101 Freeway Interchange Improvement Project, is a project of the City of Calabasas. The cost of the project is estimated at $29 million and will be primarily paid for with Measure R funds.

The Lost Hills Bridge serves as an access point for drivers to travel through Malibu Canyon and to Pacific Coast Highway. About 30,000 vehicles currently travel the bridge each day.

“The Lost Hills Road/US 101 interchange project is important for the City of Calabasas and the region. It will reduce traffic and improve pedestrian safety by widening the overpass to five lanes,” Rep. Waxman said in a statement. “I’m glad to lend my support for the project.”
