Alice C. Anderson, a longtime resident of Malibu and Topanga, died on Oct. 5 in her Latigo Beach home. She was 91.

Anderson raised four children in Topanga with her husband, Harvey. She also had numerous animals and tended a large garden. Anderson was involved in scouting activities, beginning as a Cub Scout leader and ending with Mariner Scouts. When all her children had either married or went to college, Anderson spent time on her hobby of wood sculpture, and won several awards.

As a Malibu resident, Anderson and her husband swam in the ocean every day. They also spent a great deal of time planning and working on the Malibu section of the Backbone Trail with a pick and shovel. Each spring they clipped bushes and repaired the winter damage.

Anderson had 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral and her ashes will be scattered in the ocean as were her husband’s after he died in 1999.
