Pepperdine men’s baseball head coach Rick Hirtensteiner announced the team’s 2019 schedule on Aug. 30. The team will begin its season taking on eight road games in a row starting Feb. 22, 2019.
Hirtensteiner said this type of start isn’t normal for the baseball team, but he was confident about their chances.
“We have a fairly veteran club coming back, so I think we are at a pretty good spot to handle a lot of road games,” he said in an online statement to Pepperdine Athletics.
The games in question include an Arizona tournament and Nashville trip as part of a three-game series. The Waves will then return to California for a three-game series, starting in Santa Barbara and then coming home—for the first time in the season—on March 8.
A week later, the men’s baseball team will begin its West Coast Conference play away against San Diego on March 15, followed by a game against Gonzaga, WCC Tournament champions, on March 22 on home turf.
Local fans will have a number of opportunities to catch the Waves in action—they will be playing three home series games against Santa Clara, LMU and St. Mary’s.
