Emily Sainz, a Malibu preschool teacher, has won The Malibu Times 2012 Academy Awards Ballot contest and is given the title of The Malibu Times Movie Guru.
Sainz got 15 out of the 19 listed categories correct. She chose correctly in all categories except Best Actress, Film Editing, Visual Effects and Costume Design.
At the awards show, 1920s-inspired silent film “The Artist” made lots of noise, earning the top Oscar for Best Picture. The film also nabbed Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius and Best Actor for Jean Dujardin. Meryl Streep earned her third win for her leading role in “The Iron Lady,” Octavia Spencer of “The Help” was named Best Supporting Actress and Christopher Plummer got the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in “Beginners.”
Sainz will receive 10 free passes to the Malibu Cinema Hollywood Theater for winning the ballot contest.
