Longtime Malibu Resident Barbara Levoff was killed Saturday in a motorcycle accident. She was 69.

Levoff was riding on the back of her husband Walter Levoff’s Harley Davidson along Highway 49 in Carson Hill, Calif. when the accident occurred. According to the Sonora Union Democrat, the motorcycle was traveling south on the highway around 10 a.m. when traffic slowed to allow a motor home to make a left turn. When Walter Levoff saw that the traffic was slowing, he hit his brakes and the motorcycle started to skid. He and his wife were then thrown off the bike onto the road. Barbara Levoff suffered major head injuries and was pronounced dead around 11:30 a.m. at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Walter Levoff survived with multiple bruises.

A native Californian, Levoff celebrated her 50th anniversary with her husband on Feb. 14. The two had been a couple since Barbara Levoff was 15. Friends and family said Levoff dedicated her whole life to her husband, and could be seen on the road in a car with a license plate that read “O Walter.”

Levoff is survived by her four children, Lori Dotzler; Patti Daniels and her husband, Bill; Larry and his wife, Elyse; and Nancy Bates and her husband, Chuck. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Blake and Lacey Calhoun, Casey and Brady Bates, Scotty and Troy Daniels and Connor and Remi Levoff.

A memorial service will take place on Friday at 12 p.m. at Malibu West Swim Club, located at 30756 Pacific Coast Highway.
