Timing is everything. 1. We voted to become a City 11 years ago. 2. The first City Council has effectively placed a 10 year moratorium on commercial development. 3. Now, more than a decade later, commercial landowners have agreed to a constitutional, legal, Coastal Commission-encouraged use of the properties.
4. An offer has been made as a “trade-off” instead of more intense use of the properties. 5. The fluid “alternative plans” are bogus.
It’s time for a positive vote on November 4. Malibu will gain a Community Center, preservation of some open space and funds toward a viable, needed, urgent care center and parks. My family and I will vote “yes” on M. This will give our little park-less town a beginning. Let’s encourage future developers to be even more generous.
