The Malibu Optimist Club held its annual oratorical contest—themed “The Roots of my Optimism”—last Thursday at Pepperdine’s Raitt Recital Hall.
Twelve Malibu Middle School students competed. The winners are: Fionny Darmawan for gold and $300, Julia Carroll for silver and $200, and Emma Carroll for bronze and $100.
