The Emily Shane Foundation hosts its butterfly release fundraiser event once again on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. Hundreds of California-native butterflies will be released in honor of “those mentors and role models who are positively impacting lives.”
Funds raised from the event will go to the foundation’s Successful Educational Achievement (SEA) program, which provides mentoring to at-risk youth.
A silent auction, children’s activity table, butterfly education table and more will be available. The event will feature John Kobylt (host of KFI-AM 640 “The John and Ken Show”) and Deborah Kobylt (host of “Deborah Kobylt LIVE”) as MCs. Singer-composer Robin Hild and guest speaker Rocky Peter—a former child slave who currently works with the Nobel Peace Prize Award Forum and the United Nations—will also be in attendance.
Those interested in sponsoring a butterfly can visit the Classy website or the foundation’s website. A $10 donation sponsors one butterfly; the foundation currently has a goal of $10,000. As of 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, the campaign has raised $6,998 from 50 supporters.
The event will be held at Malibu Bluffs Park (24250 Pacific Coast Highway).
