A vote on the dismissal of California Coastal Commission Executive Director Charles Lester is on the agenda for the California Coastal Commission’s Feb. 10 regular meeting, which will take place in Morro Bay, Calif..
Emails obtained by The Malibu Times show members of California’s environmental community rallying support for Lester, who is considered a steadfast advocate for environmentalism against the encroachment of coastal development.
Seven votes will be needed to carry through with the dismissal if all 12 commissioners are in attendance, or six votes if 11 commissioners attend.
If Lester’s firing receives the requisite amount of votes, a permanent or interim executive director will likely be appointed at the meeting.
