The state finally comes up with maps of areas of high fire risk … surprise … Malibu is in it.

Drivers in Malibu can expect heavier traffic on Pacific Coast Highway today … as traffic is again flowing on U-S 1-0-1 up in Santa Barbara County.

After nine years of trying … the California Public Utilities Commission approved a statewide map of fire hazard areas.

As one might expect … Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains are in the most extreme fire danger area.

There’s another allegation of sexual abuse lodged against Passages Malibu. 

A former patient at the Malibu-based rehabilitation center sued the facility on Thursday.

He alleges he was raped by another patient while under sedation.

The Passages Malibu staff had assured the plaintiff that he would be checked on every 15 minutes while he was under sedation …  but the facility’s records show that policy was not adhered to …  according to the lawsuit.

It claims the rapist was often was in a “drugged, dazed and confused state” despite Passages Malibu’s ban on drug use.

An attorney for Passages Malibu could not be immediately reached by courthouse reporters for last week.

After the frightened plaintiff reported what happened to the Passages Malibu staff … he was referred to UCLA Medical Center’s Rape Treatment Center in Santa Monica.

The Santa Monica Malibu Unified School district has sent a letter to KBUU News … asking for a  correction to last Friday’s newscast.

A city council subcommittee will meet this afternoon at Malibu City Hall …. taking the first look at a proposed ordinance to ban plastic straws at city businesses.

Sad news from the L A County coroner last Friday.

Tom Petty died in Malibu last October from an accidental drug overdose as a result of mixing medications that included opioids … at the end of a grueling concert schedule.
