Make, not break, farmers’ market

I’m a 16-year-old student at Malibu High School and my family and I have been going to the Cornucopia Farmers’ Market since I was young and I have also attended workshops and Sunday potlucks at their environmental learning center, located just behind my school.

I am writing this letter because I hear that the Cornucopia Farmers’ Market may be reinstated but that before this can happen, it has to raise $10,000 for the permit. And, I’m not sure if that guarantees them the farmer’s market.

But, the point is, do you think it’s OK to take money from a small local nonprofit organization that is teaching us all about green sustainability? My school has no extra funding for this sort of education. I can’t understand why the city can consider taking money from them. If any city council members read this, please consider waiving this large fee.
