Malibu Mayor Pro Tem Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner has been released from UCLA Medical Center but was still recovering from injuries sustained while attempting to save his home from the Woolsey Fire.
Wagner, currently in his second term on council, suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning that affected his organ function, putting him in the ICU for several days, according to information shared at a public meeting by his daughter, Ava.
“The doctors have told him it will be several weeks before he’s back to his full abilities,” Ava described during a public meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13. “His lungs, kidneys, airway and eyes were severely damaged, but thankfully all are reversible conditions that will heal as our community heals.”
