Former NBA star Scottie Pippen has been sued for $4 million by a man claiming Pippen attacked him in front of Nobu restaurant in Malibu last month, E! News reported Thursday.

The suit alleges assault and battery against Pippen, with the victim claiming Pippen spit on him, kicked and punched him after allegedly being asked for an autograph and photo. The lawsuit was filed by an attorney representing the alleged victim, Carman Shafighi.

Shafighi claims the assault has caused him nausea, headaches and trouble breathing.

“We also know that Mr. Pippen’s team is releasing unsubstantiated and false reports to the media,” Shafighi’s attorney, Lee Boyd, said in a statement to E!. “‘Sources’ close to Mr. Pippen have suggested that our client used a racial slur prior to this attack. This claim is simply not true.”

Investigators told The Malibu Times that Pippen fully cooperated with their investigation and was not arrested or charged after the alleged assault. Last week, Det. Fred Thompson told The Malibu Times the investigation was still ongoing.Â
