This is KBUU News. The headlines:

    • = Hot but not record breaking heat for today … but where did that fog come from?
    • = A power outage at 3:06 this morning … must be what Southern California Edison calls extreme weather.
    • = Caltrans says “planned power outages? What planned power outages?”
    • = Murder victim’s wife speaks up 5 weeks after Malibu Canyon tragedy.

This is Malibu’s only local daily news.

    It’s the   ((((  Thursday  ))) edition of the news … from Radio Malibu  …. F-M 99 point 1 K B U U.

Good morning … I’m Hans Laetz reporting.

    ——

Where did that giant fog bank come from?

    Not in the forecast.

While much of LA set more heat records yesterday … Malibu was cloaked in a thick layer of fog yesterday.

    And last night.

    And this morning.

Record breaking heat seems to be on the way out.

Highs today will be 102 in the mountains above malibu.

The thick fog may have been behind the brief power outage we experienced at 3:06 this morning.

Southern California Edison has frequent issues with heavy fog … or what they have called extreme weather.

    ——

The California Public Utilities Commission has quietly removed a requirement that power be provided to critical installations … when SCE turns off the power in high winds.

And Caltrans says no one talked to them … about killing power to 22 Malibu traffic lights

Mountain lion P-55’s luck ran out.

The first mountain lion ever recorded to cross the 101 freeway  twice was found dead after his radio beeper showed him not moving.

Cause of death is undetermined … his remains were too decomposed to test.

But rangers believe rat poison is the likely suspect.

It could be that he was killed in a fight with another male … as mountian lions are highly territorial.

But rangers say there were no signs of a struggle in the area where his body was found.

P-55’s home range consisted of the northwestern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, generally west of Las Virgenes Road and mostly north of Mulholland.

P-55 was on T V a lot last February …. when he was photographed peering through the sliding glass door of a home in Westlake Village.

Ranger Kate Kuykendall says P-55 was a beautiful animal who survived longer than most males in the Santa Monica Mountains, but ultimately met his end at a relatively young age
