Questionable intentions

Overnight camping in the mountains above our city should not even be talked about, no less a subject of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The threat of uncontrolled brush fires from a cigarette or smoldering campfire is far too serious. Lloyd Ahern’s attempt to obscure this issue by repeating 11-year-old false campaign issues will be recognized for what it is by any observant reader.

A MOU is a legal document describing a bilateral agreement between parties; in private law it is a common synonym for a letter of intent. Worse, implementation discussions between the Council and SMMC can be kept from the public under the litigation excuse. If that MOU is not honored, back to court they go. So, if the Council does not intend to honor the conditions of the MOU, why did they agree to it?

Mr. Ahern, in his false accusations, left out that I hate little children, pets, and beat my wife of 50 years. He distorts my willingness to take a stand on matters that are critical to the residents and environment of Malibu. It was the first council’s willingness to take such a stand, which caused L.A. County to abandon the massive sewer plan overwhelmingly opposed by Malibu residents.
