The nomination period for Malibu’s general municipal election closed Friday at 4:30 p.m. with three candidates qualifying and three in the process of qualifying.
Skylar Peak, Carl Randall and Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner officially qualified before today’s deadline. Jennifer deNicola, Rick Mullen and Laureen Sills submitted their nomination papers before the deadline, though those documents were under review to make sure the candidates have collected the required number of signatures to run as candidates for city council.
The candidates Rick Mullen, Skylar Peak and Jefferson Wagner previously announced their intention to run as a slate, specifically adhering to a slow-growth platform and, in their words, living up to Malibu’s mission statement.
The remaining candidates, Jennifer deNicola, Carl Randall and Laureen Sills, said they intend to run independent campaigns.
