After winning their division in Malibu on June 12, the Malibu Little League Cardinals placed 2nd overall in the District 25 Tournament of Champions on June 21, losing to Beverly Hills 6-5.

During the week of tournament competition at the Playa Vista Little League Field, the Cardinals beat East Santa Monica, Culver City and West L.A. to play in the Championship game.
