Another speeding car on PCH … another out of control crash … and this time two men are killed.

This one was in the straightaway near Point Mugu … last Friday.

A 2003 Nissan 3-50Z was being driven past the Navy base on the freeway … at high speed … just before 7 last Friday.

The driver lost control.

The car plowed into a guard rail and metal pole at the Hueneme Road exit.

The C H P says two men from Oxnard were killed.

23-year-old Giovanni Corona … the driver.

And 24-year-old Fernando Morales … the passenger … who was  ejected from the vehicle.

Again … a witness to the crash reported seeing the Nissan traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

There were two exhibitions of speed on P C H last week that resulted in severe crashes … although no one was killed.

And a third crash took the life of a pedestrian last week on P C H …  although no cause has been established publicly for that crash.

More rain is in the forecast for the inland mountains over next few days … but not here at the beach.

Malibu was gently soaked with about an inch and one third of rain over the last three days.

May is usually foggy but not rainy along the southern California coast.

The winter weather pattern continues all week … but the week rain storms coming down the coast Will not drop any rain in the Malibu area according to the latest forecast.

The mountains and inland valleys will see rain . or maybe snow above 7 thiousand feet…

Chains are required this morning on Highway 18 in the Big Bear area.

And snow in the forecast up at Mammoth Lakes for today … tomorrow and every day this week.

A school within the local school district could soon be named after a former president and his First Lady.

The naming of the district’s future Project Based Learning campus — located Olympic High School at 721 Ocean Park Boulevard — was discussed at a Thursday, May 16 board meeting.

The board proposed naming the site after former president Barack Obama and his wife,  Michelle Obama, dubbing the space the Michelle and Barack Obama’s Center for Inquiry and Exploration.

“This is about the politics of recognition and honoring the hope, inspiration and commitment to civic duty in the spirit of the Obamas” said Dr. Richard Tahvildaran-Jesswein … quoted by the Santa Monica Daily Press.

Malibu’s Craig Foster says he couldn’t think of a more appropriate 21st-century leader to name the district’s 21st-century learning campus after.
