MUSE School — a progressive school with two campuses in Calabasas, attended by some Malibu students — has been officially accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The accreditation came after the school’s 10th anniversary in September 2015, and is a result of one year of planning work.
The WASC Accreditation visiting team said they observed a student-centered learning environment in small group settings during their visit to MUSE School, according to a release from the school.
“Learning involves authentic, real-world topics and goes beyond the textbook, utilizing media, technology and collaborative activities,” they added.
“It is clear that the accreditation team commends our commitment to personalized, passion-based education on two of the greenest campuses in the country,” MUSE School Head of School Jeff King said.
MUSE School educates children and teenagers from early childhood through high school according to their mission of “inspiring and preparing young people to live consciously with themselves, one another and the planet.” The school’s first class of graduating seniors will apply to college in the fall of 2016.
