As the new Juan Cabrillo PTA Presidents, we support the kids and staff whole heartedly. The PTA pays for the supplemental education of our kids and the specialists that teach science, art, music, computers and physical education, and the classroom aides. We are proud that we can contribute to every child’s education.
As parents, we are proud of the diversity Cabrillo offers. Our kids learn side by side with children from all walks of life.
Because of it, they learn tolerance, compassion and empathy. You can’t put a price on that. Diversity is hard to find in our affluent community. It adds a richness to the education of our children that can’t be bought. At Cabrillo, it is one of our strengths and we embrace it.
With that said, does it sometimes make our job of fundraising harder? Perhaps! But we also have to be aware of the current economic climate. The purpose of the article in the paper two weeks ago was not to incite disagreements among the local elementary schools, but rather to point out Cabrillo’s differences. With state budget cuts affecting all schools, even our local Malibu schools, we need to strive as a community to make sure all our children are getting the education they deserve.
This year, we need your support more than ever. We hope, when you receive the Dolphin Club mailer, you will take that into consideration. Let’s invest in the education of all our children.
