Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation Friday after calls came in that a body was discovered off Piuma Road in the Santa Monica Mountains.
According to officers with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, calls came in at 11:31 Friday morning after a passerby came across the remains, near Piuma and Schueren roads. Nearby residents reported several helicopters and multiple departments involved in the response, which turned up the remains of one individual.
Remains belonged to a male, according to a report from KTLA, though it remained “too early to tell” if the male was a victim of a homicide or died of natural causes.Â
