Florence Culpepper appointed Lincoln Middle School Principal

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District appointed two new administrators, Pamela Kazee and Florence Culpepper, according to District spokespeople.

Culpepper will fill the role as the new principal of Lincoln Middle School, replacing Dr. Suzanne Webb. Culpepper has previously served as a house principal at Santa Monica High School, one of five house principals at the school.

In addition to a bachelor’s degrees in secondary education and social sciences from Birmingham-Southern College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from California State University, Northridge, Culpepper also has credentials in single subject teaching and administrative services, and is a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Kazee, who comes to the District from Illinois, has been named the new director of special education, replacing Sara Woolverton.

The District cites Kazee “established programs for students with multiple disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and emotional needs,” according to the District’s release.

Kazee’s experience also includes a bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of Kentucky, Lexington and a master’s degree in special education from Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond.

District Superintendent Sandra Lyon congratulated both women in written statements provided by District spokespeople.

“Florence will be a valuable addition to our district leadership team,” Lyon said of Culpepper.

“Pamela will be a valuable addition to our district leadership team,” Lyon said of Kazee.
