Malibu Burger Co. partners Cisco Adler and chef Aaron May grill up organic grass fed burgers, vegetarian burgers and a list of healthy gourmet burgers on Thursday evening before the grand opening on Friday, June 30, in 2017.

The Malibu Burger Co. abruptly shut its doors late June after two years in business.

The fast-casual burger restaurant, located in the Malibu Village, was a joint venture between local musician and producer Cisco Adler and another Malibu native, Matt Winter. The beachy-vibe eatery was located in the same spot as the old Guido’s restaurant—a longtime Malibu favorite that shuttered in 2012.

Last week, it appears employees were seen trying to enter the establishment, which was securely locked. There were no notices on the door. Hungry potential customers were also seen trying to enter and appeared bewildered about the unannounced closure.

The restaurant’s website still functions as normal, though it is not taking orders. It lists a temporary closure of June 18 – July 2, and another from July 4-5.

On June 5, a post on the restaurant’s Instagram account indicated they were closed, with a comment from the restaurant stating “we are closed for good unfortunately. Thanks for your support.”

The Malibu Times received word a new seafood restaurant is preparing to take over the space, aiming for an opening date of this Thursday, July 4. A social media account associated with the restaurant indicated it would be operating through the summer.
