Malibu mothers gather to celebrate motherhood and survival more than six months after the Woolsey Fire.

To mark the six month anniversary of the Woosley Fire that affected the Malibu community, Malibu’s Candace Kelly, Erin Golan and Marieka Kline hosted a brunch on Thursday, May 9, at Kelly’s home to celebrate motherhood. More than 70 Malibu women attended the brunch, which happened to fall on the six-month anniversary of the Woolsey Fire. According to Lisa Hall, Malibu resident and Our Lady of Malibu office manager, nearly one-third of the guests lost their homes in the November fire.

Guests were gifted with necklaces by Candace’s Letterpress Jewelry, succulents by Marieka’s Lucky Penny and Josie Kletter’s Bu Sunscreen, and received facials from Lisa Mazzarella Karisma Skincare. The event featured refreshments from Strange Family Vineyard and nourishment by Chef Michael Reed.

“We wanted to find a way to honor and celebrate all the strong mothers who lost their homes during the Woolsey Fire,” attendee Erin Golan said, in an email from Hall to The Malibu Times.
