U.S. Naval Academy student and Malibu High School alumnus Matt Nechak is battling another player this preseason to earn the starting outside linebacker position on the varsity football team.
The team’s Web site says, “[Nechak is an] impressive player that had a solid spring … runs well and has good size … can also put his hand on the ground at defensive end … has the potential to be a very good player over the next three years.”
Nechak played varsity football and lacrosse at Malibu High. He was a first-team all-conference selection for football his senior year.
