A small house caught fire Monday afternoon in Topanga and burned down, along with a quarter of an acre of brush, a county fire official said.

Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire at the 20300 block of Callon Drive in Topanga at 2:25 p.m., Inspector Tony Akins said. When officials first arrived, the structure, described as a small house, had burned to the ground and caused some nearby brush to catch fire.

The house may have been a secondary structure on the property, and it’s not clear if anybody was living in it or not. The cause of the large spot fire was ruled as accidental.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury during the incident. All crews had left the scene around 7 p.m.
