"Where'd you go, Bernadette" is the top-selling novel in Malibu.

A children’s book by a local author, humor by fan favorite David Sedaris and some strong new novels are flying off bookshelves recently.

“Where’d You Go, Bernadette” topped the fiction list this past month, as it’s new in paper and makes for perfect summer reading. Another great beach book—“Bad Monkey,” the latest smart, funny, and compulsively readable mystery from Carl Hiassen. And if we’re talking funny, David Sedaris’ latest collection of humor pieces, “Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls,” is just out and already up there on the non-fiction list. Don’t miss “Tiny Pie” for the kids in your house—by local author Mark Bailey—a great picture book this season. Lastly, yes, “The Son” by Phillipp Meyer is out and may be the book to read —an epic, Texan, multi-generational Great American Novel. What we’ve all been waiting for!
