Malibu High’s varsity baseball team continued its unprecedented tear Friday with a 5-1 victory and no-hitter over league rival Santa Paula High School (0-5).
The win put the Sharks at 8-0 overall and 3-0 in Frontier League competition, the team’s best start in school history. The strong showing also kept the team tied for first place in the league with Carpinteria High, which has gone 1-0 in Frontier competition and 2-3 overall.Â
With combined pitching efforts from freshman Ezra Allen and junior Noah Simon on Friday, Malibu High gave up just one unearned run while racking up five runs on the offensive side, including three in the late innings to put the game out of reach for the Cardinals.Â
The win at home came two days after the Sharks took down another league rival, Santa Clara. The Sharks scored three runs in the first inning, and the Saints (0-5) were never able to catch up. The final was 3-2.Â
Next up for Malibu is Villanova Prep, a team still early into its season (1-1). The Sharks will make the trek up to Ojai on Wednesday to play the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m.
