Local accepted to Stanford

Malibu High School Senior Christopher Delgado has been accepted at Stanford University under the school’s early decision program. He intends to major in economics.

Delgado attended Webster Elementary School and has been a straight-A student at Malibu High School since sixth-grade. He has received several honors, including the U.S. Presidential Award for Academics, the Kodak Young Leaders Award, the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program, the Yale Book Award. Delgado is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

He is the president of the Malibu Youth Commission and is also the president of the California Association of Student Councils. During his junior year, Delgado participated in the Student Advisory Board on Legislative Education, or SABLE, and the Student Advisory Board of Education, or SABE. This past summer, he was a finalist to be appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as the student member to the California State Board of Education.

Additionally, Delgado is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a Total Defense Martial Arts System practitioner.
