——

Skies mostly clear at sunrise this morning in Malibu.

No rain … certainly no snow … in the forecast this morning.

——

Malibu city manager Reva Feldman has been named city manager of the year by the California City Manager Foundation. And that predictably has set off howls of protests from people who have been opposed to Feldman for years.  Details: https://www.radiomalibu.net/city-manager-of-the-year/

It looks doubtful that state contractors will meet the deadline to remove fire debris in the Wolsey Fire disaster.  Right now … they are 46 down and 960 to go.  Details:  https://www.radiomalibu.net/contractors-race-to-remove-fire/

——

Southern California Edison will start first in Malibu … as it embarks on a half billion dollar project to reduce fire dangers in high fire risk areas.  And they reportedly promise to remove all the gravel from that vacant lot in downtown Malibu in 120 days.  https://www.radiomalibu.net/edison-scrapes-lot-in-downtown/

You are listening to the latest news from Radio Malibu … F-M 99 point 1 K B U U.  ((( time  ))))

——

A pair of hoax phone calls … probably from the same person … brought a significant sheriffs department response to Malibu last night .

At about 10:30 … a person on a phone reported an assault at Trancas.

That brought over a sheriff’s helicopter and  a large number of deputies on the ground.

50 minutes later .. a bomb threat from central Malibu.

Both calls taken seriously and investigated …. both calls now believed to be hoaxes.

—— Trancas Park  reopens today

——

We still don’t know the name of the U S Navy cruiser will drop anchor right off the Malibu Pier tomorrow.

But it will be one big ship.

Navy cruisers are 567 feet long.

They cost a billion dollars each … there are 22 of them active in the U-S Navy’s fleet right now … 8 of them are home-ported at San Diego … plus one at Peal Harbor and three in Japan.

They carry Tomahawk cruise missiles … torpedo launchers … standard vertical missiles … and two helicopters.

One of these ships will be bringing 330 officers and sailors to Malibu tomorrow and over the weekend.

The public is invited to attend the welcoming ceremony tomorrow afternoon … at 1:30  … at the Malibu Pier.

Expect heavy traffic all weekend … if only for the gawkers on PCH.

——

Traffic … in 65 seconds … first …
