The No. 8 Pepperdine men’s volleyball team defeated No.1 BYU on Saturday in Provo, Utah.
In their second upset in two weeks, the Waves came back from a 25-23 first set loss to win the second set, 33-31, after rallying back from a 21-18 deficit. They went on to clinch the victory with 25-23 and 25-22 set scores, consecutively.
Senior Matt Tarantino led the Waves with 22 kills, three aces and six digs. Freshman David Weiczorek was another strong contributor to the victory, posting 18 kills, two aces, five digs, four blocks and 34 successful service receptions.
The Waves return to Firestone Fieldhouse to host USC on March 26.
