The Malibu Search and Rescue Team (SAR) aided in rescuing one of Malibu’s four-legged hikers last Sunday.

SAR and Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to the Backbone Trail, where a five-year-old, 80-pound German Shepherd named Levi was injured while hiking with two female adults, according to a social media post by Malibu SAR. Rescuers hiked 1.5 miles up the steep trail before reaching Levi, who was then packed in a rescue litter and carried out to an awaiting conservancy ranger.
