Canyon rescues can be exciting to watch, but Malibu Times Multimedia Director Julie Ellerton recently witnessed a rescue that involved crowds of lookie-loos pulling over, parking on Malibu Canyon Road, running across lanes of traffic and crowding onto the shoulder of the highway to get a better look at the helicopter rescue over the side. This type of rubbernecking not only can back up traffic for miles, but also may result in injuries or collisions that make traffic even worse.
