I read Jo Ruggles’ rant (she always rants when she really has no point to make) and remembered her last rant where she ended up threatening to move to Oxnard. I remember this clearly because I wrote a reply offering to move her for free. Unfortunately, she never followed through.
Now, Jo’s back accusing the city of being “clueless” for trying to straighten out the traffic mess on Cross Creek Road. It seems she’s the only person in Malibu who hasn’t played “chicken” navigating traffic going in every direction, trying to get to the movie or the tot lot.
I’ve finally figured out what Jo and her buddies are so angry about. Keller and Van Horn lost the election years ago and they can’t get over it. They tried supporting John Mazza and lost those two elections also. Like the old city council and Mazza’s gang, they don’t want any changes, never mind that it might be a good change. “Forget ball fields,” they say. “My kids didn’t need them, why should yours? My kids lived through walking without sidewalks on Point Dume, let your kids take the same chance. Besides, it’s good exercise dodging cars.”
Jo constantly reminds us that she served on the Planning Commission. (She was Van Horn’s appointment, by the way.) I remember she wanted the city to pass a lighting ordinance based on ancient English Common Law. I guess she wanted us to run around in nightshirts holding candles.
I think Jo figures that the only really “clueless” people in Malibu are the ones that don’t realize her group is gearing for the next election where the “clueless” people will vote for her candidates. Oh well, if she changes her mind and decides Oxnard is a better breeding place for her personal attacks and rants, my offer is still open to help her move.
