The Malibu Search and Rescue Team (Malibu SAR) and L.A. County Fire Department (LACoFD) personnel rescued a female hiker in respiratory distress in Kanan Canyon near Newton Canyon Road on Sunday, Nov. 8, according to Malibu SAR.
The units were conducting joint car-over-the-side drills and packaging mock patients when the woman approached them complaining of shortness of breath, neck pain and dizziness. They immediately switched over from the drills to evaluate and treat the patient, who was then loaded into a rescue blanket and raised to the roadside where an ambulance was waiting.
The rescue marks Malibu SAR’s 115th rescue call in 2015.
