Malibu High running sensation Claudia Lane captured two more victories last Saturday.

The sophomore long distance athlete won the women’s 1,600- and 3,200-meter races at the Malibu Invitational. Lane claimed first place in the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 10.99 seconds and was victorious in the 3,200 due to her time of 10:38.62.

In both races, Lane outran runners from schools such as Brentwood, Calabasas, California City, Chaminade, Heritage Christian, Hueneme, Foothill Tech, Santa Paula, Vasquez, Vistamar and more.

Lane dominated the competition last fall during a cross country season that featured her winning race after race, winning a CIF title and becoming one of the top high school runners in the country. She has two other 1,600-meter wins and one women’s 800-meter win this track season.

Lane wasn’t the only Shark to have a top 10 performance at the 18-team Malibu Invitational.

Tenth-grader Sierra Brady won the women’s pole vault with a jump of 10-07.00. Another Sharks sophomore athlete, Fiona Delaney, came in second in the women’s long jump with a jump of 14-08.00.

The Malibu women’s 4x100m relay team finished second in their event with a time of 53.25.

Rivers Redclay finished fourth in the women’s 100-meter with a time of 14.40. Her time of 29.93 placed her fifth in the women’s 200-meter. Delaney’s 31.06 time placed her seventh in the race.

Anya Adorni-Mindel, a junior, and Eva Conrad, a senior, finished next to each other in the women’s 100-meter hurdles and long jump. Adorni-Mindel finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.18 and Conrad finished fourth with a time of 18.50. Conrad jumped a 14-02.50 in the long jump for sixth-place. Adorni-Mindel’s leap of 14-00.00 placed her one spot behind her teammate.

Junior Cooper Denicola had a vault of 9-00.00 in the pole vault —  a fifth-place finish. Eleventh-grader Harley Rader’s time of 2:48.64 earned an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter.
